An's Guide to NYC Thrift Stores
NYC thrift stores - reviewed & rated, vintage Levi's 501s, online thrifting with all of the shopping & aftercare tips
Shopping aka knowing where to go and what to look for is truly a skill that takes years to get good at, at sometimes, it takes a little bit of patience and luck as well! I find it thrilling, enjoyable, and absolutely worth it to hunt down something used, something old, something unique, myself. But if shopping in person isn’t your thing, there are tons of online thrifting options — personal shopping services as they will hunt down those sold out, discontinued, one-of-a-kind, or rare vintage items for you, secondhand sites ranging from high street to ultra-luxury brands, brands offering trade-in, repairs, and buying gently used items or dropping reworked vintage collections, etc.
I’m sure this comes as no surprise to you that it’s expensive to thrift in New York. But there’s really something for everyone here. I know my preference and style are so different than yours, but I do hope this guide is helpful to a few of you out there. I’ll share what I know about the NYC thrifting scene (will review and rate almost all of the vintage and secondhand clothing stores that I’ve been out of 5) and sum it up with my top 5 favorites. In case you don’t know, I used to work at my aunt’s tailoring shop, so I’ve got all of the aftercare tips included at the end. There are also vintage Levi’s shopping best-kept secrets and online thrift shop discussions. Subscribe below to find out because you won’t want to miss this!
