An's Guide to Holiday Wardrobe 2023
GIVEAWAY - PART 2: festive things to add to your basic wardrobe, my SSENSE & The RealReal wishlist & super last minute gifts
Is it just me or the holiday time feels like it brings out a large mixed bag of emotions (in the best and the worst ways possible)? Happiness, sadness, guilt, joy, grief, stress, excitement, anxiety, dread, fatigue, lack of sleep, lack of emotion, lack of motivation, financial worries, homesickness, relationship challenges… Everything. All at once!
Here are my takes on things I’ve done this week to help, inspired by the content in this article by Michele Owens.
Traditions: As shared before that every December 1st, I go get a real Christmas Tree and put it up. I find that having a little seasonal tradition whether it’s the food or the decor (old or new), it all helps provide a sense of stability and reduces the stress significantly.
Slow Down: I decided to start a new journal (this dot grid one lasted me 2 years 2021 - 2022, so I got the same one, but plain/unruled and a cover!) and started jotting down some end-of-yer thoughts and small goals for the new year. Cooking and creating daily content (posted as reels on my IG) are also some of the ways that help me slow down for the moment and focus on one task at a time. I’m grateful that I have a safe quiet space to do this!
Gather: There are a lot of holiday markets and festive decor being put up all over the city (I have yet to see the Rockefeller Tree this year, so I’m planning to do that this weekend!). I find that I am less alone when I’m out walking around while being surrounded by so many people. If you haven’t called or texted a friend, do it! I got on a few hour long call with one of my long-distance girlfriends, and we talked through a lot of things that’s been swirling inside for so long. And that definitely helped me getting out of the funk I’d been on all weekend. For Christmas this year, we’ll be spending the weekend with family in Washington, D.C, but I will be back in NYC for NYE. If you’re in NYC, DM me and let’s get together!!
How do you manage the ups and downs of the holiday season?
Before I get into the holiday fashion content I’ve promised to deliver weeks ago, I want to do the first giveaway of the month (yes, it means there’s more coming!). Please read carefully and let me know if you have any questions.
GIVEAWAY
Alva Chef Skillet with Lid - 1 WINNER (US only)!
*This giveaway is not sponsored or associated with the brand. I will personally ship a brand new one out to you!
It’s perfect for one-pan dishes such as braised dishes, stews, sauces. I love that it heats evenly and stays very hot. Pro tip: Any stainless steel cookware will become non-stick if you wait for it to get hot (do the water droplet test!). I’d recommend getting one of these spatulas to help get things unstuck. It’s super easy to clean, and I love the large opening and tall wall!
