Welcome back to An’s List and Part 1 of my Brooklyn Guide!

If you’re new here, I’ve lived in NYC for over 2 years. My first apartment was in Bushwick, a neighborhood in east Brooklyn, and I lived there for two years. Last month, I moved to a different neighborhood in Brooklyn, Bed-Stuy, and it’s been such a nice change of commute and living pace. I love it here much more, and so far, I’ve already had a handful of spots that I frequent.

In case you’re wondering why you should trust me, my NYC Google maps look like this. You can also scroll through my TikTok for more NYC content, places, and ideas as I share a lot of my recommendations there!

I’m a list maker kinda gal, hence the name of this newsletter, An’s List.

Popular Brooklyn Neighborhoods

Williamsburg, hands down, is the spot to be in Brooklyn if you want to venture out of Manhattan. It is filled with a hip crowd of both locals and tourists, trendy boutiques, grocery stores, cute cafes, and tons of bars and restaurants. It’s also kinda a hot spot for apartments because of all of the above plus the water and Manhattan skyline views. And it’s just a short train distance from Manhattan. Domino Park, McCarren Park, and Bushwick Inlet Park are some of my most frequented parks in the neighborhood.

If you’re interested in learning about my apartment-hunting journey in Brooklyn this second time around, moving from Bushwick to Bed-Stuy, I shared about it here. I loved my first NYC apartment in Bushwick, but my current apartment in Bed-Stuy is definitely a level up. It’s a bit further from Manhattan but comes with tons of great amenities that makes it worth it!
